Designer Profile: Clary Bosbyshell

Clary Bosbyshell of Margaux Interiors Ltd., and daughter of Margaret Bosbyshell, grew up immersed in the world of design. Clary developed her eye for aesthetics at a young age, spending her days amongst antique markets and art galleries, swatch books and fabric samples.

What inspired this career path for you?
My mother, Margaret Bosbyshell! From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be an interior designer. I grew up immersed in the world of design. I developed my eye for aesthetics at a young age, spending my days amongst antique markets and art galleries, swatch books, and fabric samples. I graduated from the University of Georgia and studied design in Cortona, Italy; and I spent a year in the world of fashion merchandising, further honing my eye for smart and stylish design. I joined Margaux in 2009 and have been creating compelling designs ever since.

What is your go-to source for inspiration?
I love studying design books; Pinterest, Instagram, traveling, and nature are all sources of inspiration for me.

Tell us about your creative process.
My creative process usually starts by pulling fabrics that I love. I then layer them. From there, I will do design boards incorporating furniture that I think is right for the space.

Describe your style in 6 words or less.
Layered, timeless, organic, comfortable, blue, and white!

What’s a staple in your tool kit?
A staple in my tool kit usually includes a tape measure, paint wheel, notebook, pencil, and some snacks!

Who do you look up to in the design world?
There are a few: Bunny Williams, Mark Sikes, and Daniel Romualdez.

If you could design a space for anyone, what kind of space and for whom would it be?
I’d love to work with Gwyneth Paltrow and design her dining room. I love entertaining and, from what I’ve read, so does Gwyneth.

Tell us your favorite design-related word, phrase, or quote.
“Blue and white is always right.”

Which design blog, website, TV show, or magazine would you be lost without?
Pinterest! I love reading all design magazines, flipping through the pages, and studying the interiors. My favorite is Cabana Magazine.

Share a little bit about the pieces you’re consigning on Viyet.
I am usually consigning pieces that don’t fit in my own home or a client’s home. I’m at a point where I have an entire storage unit full of furniture that someone else needs to enjoy. I hope that it ends up in a space that is used and well-loved.

What do you love about Viyet?
The access to so much product in an easily navigated manner. There is everything from antiques to new items! I recently purchased a Bunny Williams drinks table—I am super excited about it!
