Design lovers will notice a phrase coming up more and more when browsing for furniture: “Made in America.” It’s an encouraging sign that more brands are investing in local talent, and a step in the right direction for reviving the American tradition of furniture-making. But one designer has taken this idea one step further. Reagan Hayes has focused the design and production of her luxuriously classic furnishings in Los Angeles, California. Establishing a local workshop allowed the Los Angeles-based designer to have more control over the process (both design- and timeline-wise). “We also really enjoy making our own small contribution to the local manufacturing economy there to help build the already fantastic level of talent and craftsmanship in the area,” Hayes said in an interview with New York Spaces magazine.
While Hayes is known across the country for her exquisite designs, East Coast fans would have to either travel to the LA showroom or be content with browsing her website. That’s all about to change, as she opens her eponymous showroom in the New York Design Center. There, you’ll find the exceptional upholstered pieces Hayes has become known for, in addition to a distinctive assortment of lighting and accessories. The other notable addition will be a curated selection of art, including works by street artist and fashion world favorite Bradley Theodore.
As longtime fans of Hayes, we couldn’t be more excited to see the designer expand her empire. For more information about the new showroom, check out the New York Spaces interview. In the meantime, take a look at the showroom preview, along with our most-loved pieces from her Viyet collection.
